It all depends upon what speed I'm going when driving around town.
I certainly wouldn't be in 4th if the limit was 25mph.
Conversely, I wouldn't be in 2nd if the limit was 45mph.

Soooo, with that said, I can't really vote in the poll.
However, this is where I find myself for around town gearing:
25mph = 2nd gear.
35mph = 3rd gear.
45mph+ = 4th gear.

EDIT:
Ahhhh. I think I see what you're getting at now.
You must have different "around town" driving than we do though.
IOW, our highest speed limit in town is 45mph.
Otherwise, it jumps right up to 70mph out of the city limits.....which is like a 5 mile radius from the town center.

I do skip 4th, and sometimes 5th when acellerating to speed on the highway.
1st-2nd-3rd-5th. and sometimes 1st-2nd-3rd-4th-6th.

yeah i never find myself skipping gears. My rule is that they are there for a reason, and if you go from a lower gear to a higher one, there is no need to skip, though i am not an SVT owner, so i wouldnt know cause i dont have 6 gears. But downshifting is another story...

I'll shift 1-2-4 in town. Max limit is 45, and I have about 20 stoplights between house and work. It's not uncommon for me to 1-2-1-2-1-2-1 if I catch the lights wrong.

I usually skip 3rd in around town driving (45 mph). 1st and 2nd to get up to speed (I like to accelerate relatively quickly), but 3rd is just going to have me speeding quite a bit pretty quickly, so I slip it right into 4th at that point. More fuel efficient as well.

I've recently started skipping gears... My preferred pattern is 1-2-4-6 when accelerating..

I usually abide by the speed limit, so I usually go 1-2-6 or 1-2-3-6. I just like to get up the the speed limit quickly. Of course when my shift linkage fell apart, I discovered I could do 35 in 1'st, on that occasion, I skipped ALL my gears except 1'st.

Don't skip gears going up, but when I'm coasting to a red light, I'll usually go to and stay in 2nd - in case I catch a light change.
