I started to wonder badly without me touching steering wheel.

That was scary, it felt almost like the car was floating. I've had the car for 2 weeks now. 2002 13K miles on it. Ever since I bought it I had a periodic pop from the right front when braking or turning or hitting a bump. This has steadily gotten worse. The pop sound has gotten louder, you can now feel it through the floor, and it occurs more frequently. I also will get a vibration in the steering wheel at various highway speeds that comes an goes. Tires are balanced perfetly with no un even wear.

Last night I had someone turn the wheel slightly back and forth and it felt like it was coming from the inside of the right tie rod. If a tie rod was going out would it cause the above syptoms?

Yes it could...also..the only place i would even risk driving that car is straight to the dealership. It may be the suspension too or a bad hub or something, but it's a serious problem which could lead to your wheel coming off.
