buring smell

has anyone else ever had a buring smell coming from the engine compartment? this smells like something plastic burning. i look around and didnt see anything like touching the maniflod, and its nothing that is so obvious that you could see it smoking, but i can still smell it. i had the car taken in to get a shifter linkage replaced, and they must have not put something back right, and now its too close to something hot

How did the plastic get on the back side of the manifold?

Other than my curious nature, I'm glad to hear the problem was solved...
