Underdrive pulley is the crank pulley.

Are we talking about an underdrive pulley or just a lightweight pulley for the accessories you can buy from AEM?
If you want to underdrive everything, you need a smaller crank pulley. Some kit comes with a bigger pulley for the water pump to keep the stock belt. AEM gives you some other pulley, same size but lightweight.

Focus Central used to offer the alternator pully too, but ceased production because it did very little and was a pain to install, or so i hear

Yeah, AEM has a 1 piece that is just the alt. pulley, but I don't see the point in getting it.

I got a Ford Racing/ Esslinger UDP. Ford Racing uses esslingers UDP (so I hear) and they just rebadge it. Mine just says "Esslinger".

AEM only makes and alt. pulley because they dont like messing with the dampener on the crank pulley. They believe that without the dampener you are potentialy harming the engine.

Get the FC UDP one piece. I have one on my vehicle and you can really feel the difference at the low-end. The alternator pulley will help, but to get the best performance advantage you want the crank UDP.
