Did you just get the car or did you just get the clutch/flywheel replaced?

A lightweight flywheel will produce chatter. If your stock flywheel is producing chatter, it's dying.

^^^my stocker chattered when I bought the car. It lasted until a week ago when my differential grenaded the transmission. After pulling the trans and clutch, we noticed the flywheel was loose, like rocking back and forth...

The SVTf is known for that chatter. Most advise to replace the clutch/flywheel with an aftermarket setup...but even then I've heard mixed results.

I should also note that I test drove a number of SVTf before getting mine, and each one I drove (from what I remember--it was like two years ago) chattered to some degree.

Here's the threads I posted about my trans. The first was before I knew what happened...the second is just me ranting but there's some decent info.

clicky

rant clicky (pic of damage too)

The flywheel has to be replaced. Originally, the design was flawed from Ford, and they released a TSB (technical service bulletin - like a recall, only you only get the work done if your car is exhibiting the issues it is supposed to address) that pretty much entitled those who complained enough to get a a new clutch/flywheel or even transmission.

The old style (pre TSB) is a smaller diameter (I'm sure there's other differences, I just don't know what). The new style clutch requires the new style flywheel - you can't interchange old with new designs.

I haven't gotten the new trans in yet. It's supposed to have like 17k miles on it, and I can say that it 'feels' better when I shift it (run it through the gears by hand by moving the lever) when compared to the old one.
