i noticed a smoother idle going to a smaller gap. IIRC, i went to .53 cuz of the better wires I'm using.

I'm using Taylor Thundervolt wires and Copper core plugs while the gap is .060.......runs great.

With stock wires .050 is about the most i could go anything more and my car sounded like a subaru lol(misfiring). With 8mm wires i went .060 no problems. btw this is with autolite 103 copper plugs.

Stock is .052 but usually you can get away with .060.... I have seen some cars that wouldnt fall out of a tree at .060 and others that ran like a raped ape.

0.060 if your running copper plugs with a good set of Taylor wires. 0.056 if running iridium plugs with a good set of Taylor wires. 0.053 if using stock wires.

you know its gaped too wide if you ref to 7k and hear a misfire. use your hand to pull the throttle plate under the hood and listen, don't perform this test from behind the wheel as it isn't exactly scientific and you need to listen best you can. idle should always be smooth. if your idle is rough your way over-gaped! i've seen over-gaping throw CEL ignition codes...and occasionally make the charging system 'battery' light illuminate/flash.

Note: the factory decal on the underside of the hood tells you the recommended spark plug gap - 1.3mm.
