New kid on the block

Hey guys i recently bought a 03 focus svt eap and i just had a couple questions i was hoping yal could answer. First i want to change my shift knob and i was wondering if the stock one just twists off or what? Second I want to lower my car and i didn't know if i should do springs or shocks and struts, and how much i can safely lower the car? if you guys could help it would be very appreciated.

Thanks, Mitchell

Yep, the knob screws right off!

As for suspension, I recommend Eibach pro-kit springs (http://focus.c-f-m.com/eibachpro-kit...fordfocus.aspx) and Koni AGX shocks/struts (http://focus.c-f-m.com/newitemkybagx...fordfocus.aspx). It will give the car a very tasteful look. If you want your car to be "slammed," I'd get Eibach sportline springs (http://focus.c-f-m.com/eibachsportli...fordfocus.aspx)

I personally think the stock height of the svt's looks pretty good. Although i think the back could be lowered about an inch or so

There are a lot of options when it comes to exhaust, but it really comes down to how you want it to sound. Theres not much, if at all any, power gains when you put in a new exhaust. An orp (off road pipe), high flow cat and a nice muffler will really bring your focus to life tho. All i did with my exhaust was get stainless 2 1/4" pipe from the cat to muffler, 2 1/2" stainless from the muffler to dual 3" tips. I got a Spintech muffler and it sounds pretty good. Hope this helps.

there are several good options, basically, the sky is the limit. you can drop 2k on coilovers, and what not, but it depends on what you want. do you want the slammed look? or do you want good handling? what is ur budget? for exhuast, all your mandrel bent exhuasts should be w/in a hp or 2 of eachother, so as long as its stainless, it doesn't matter.

Slam it! But spend the money for coilovers to avoid ghetto bounce.

?????why change the stock shift knob?????

(you dont plan on putting some JDM, LED, blinking, carbon fiber crap knob on there do you? please say no.)

There's several examples of custom or aftermarket shift knobs in this forum:

How about checking here:
Wheels, Tires, Brakes & Suspension

This performance chat forum area is supposed to be for "engine performance, tuning and exhaust related upgrades".
Happy reading!
