SVT Rear Quarter Panels

I was looking some up Focus parts yesterday and saw the SVT has different part numbers for the rear quarter panels and are almost double the price. I can't figure out for the life of me why they would be different.... Maybe a couple of drilled holes or something... Any Ideas?

You don't even want to know the price of those quarters either!!!!

Do you need to replace your rear quarter panel?

Thats a huge job, alot of welding, fitting, etc goin on, not a job for the do-it-yourselfer. Myabe it would be easier to just repair your own, or have a shop do it.

Somebody get a hold of Steve at Tousley and ask him.
There's got to be a difference if they don't have the same part number, wouldn't you think?

I checked this out again. The left rear of the three door had its own part number for the SVT but is now superseded by another number that matches a ZX3 superseded part number....SO for all intensive purposes they are the same now. BUT the right rear quarter panel is not superseded by any part number and is still an SVT only part.

Now after talking to the parts guy, he mentioned that Ford is now switching to making non specific replacement body parts for their cars (i.e. say a truck had OEM flares, the body man would have to drill the holes instead of having the panel coming predrilled with its own part number).

Yeah maybe due to this just like you were saying, there's holes drilled somewhere in the SVT as compared to the non-SVT. I just can't think of what would be different though.

Aren't the side skirts SVT specific? Maybe there's holes in the bottom of the quarter so you can attach the plastic clips to the quarter and then clip the side skirt on. I remember from the shop that alot of time those holes are square. Just an idea.

They should be the same part.... SVT uses bare bodies from the production line as the starting point.

Might just have a winner!
When I got a new passenger side front fender, (they only listed one part# for all models) I had to drill the hole for the side skirt cap.
