SVT focus prices

I have been looking at SVT focuses for a little bit now and man the prices are out of control. I looked at one today with 193k miles, Car was clean but had a few issues. First was the nearly bald tires , 2nd was the Ghetto system, 3rd was the ghetto exhuast with no muffler, APC tails, 1 new headlamp, one original, Parking brake didn't work, and the ABS and Brake light where on and he didn't know why. He is the 3rd owner and has no paperwork or history on it and only picked it up a few months ago. All this for a nice price of 4800.00

The car drove fine, but nearly stalled when coming to stop after a short drive down the block (has a Cold Air Induction). I was able to go through the gears and it felt as if it had a short shift kit and all was good there. Acceleration was good with no issues. Breaking seemed ok, but a little spongy (could be that it needs some brake work).

Even if I was to get it for $2500.00 I would be spending allot of money just to bring it back to a confident reliable daily driver in my eyes. I would be looking at a timing belt, tires, exhaust, and brake work before I would run it everyday.

your thoughts?

I think that price is rediculous. But wow! 193,000 miles! I guess it's a 2002?

Yes it is, then there is this one:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

7k for a car that has no history. heck i asked if the belt or clutch was done and they don't know. I was seriously going to offer them 5k for the car if they replaced the clutch and timing belt.
Crazy!!!!

I sold my way-better-condition-than-most 2002 SVT with 35,000 or so miles on it last October for $6,000 cash. Keep looking, don't overpay for someone's worn out crap heap.

^^^

I looked at a good number of SVTs before buying mine, and even mine wasn't exactly pristine or a stellar deal.

My roommate bought his SVT for $1700 .. WHAT!?!??!

Well, it had 130K on the clock and was in a small front passenger side collision.

Thus far, rebuilding that side and getting it back to snuff (which it is now), it has cost him a little over $3500. That's including the $1700 he bought it for.

Things he fixed / replaced ... I helped a bit ... Saved on Labor
- Timing Belt
- Serpentine Belt
- Rack and Pinion for Passanger Side
- End Links (Both)
- Shock and Strut (stock for passenger)
- CV Joint
- Control Arm
- Passenger Fender
- Passenger Side Mirror

Now, its running real strong. Engine was in tip top shape. The original owner didn't do anything to the car. Older gentleman who used it for a daily for work and home. No racing.
