New SVT Owner Here from Canada

Hello everyone. I just picked up a 2004 Focus SVT 4 door hatch. The previous owner mentioned this group so I thought I would check it out.

A bit about me first. I am 25 living in Alberta, Canada. I am an electrical engineer with a passion for the automobile. On the acreage I live on right now I live with a room mate (we don't mate lol) and we have a shop with a few welders, paint booth, and small CNC mill.

I have a few cars now with the purchase of my SVT.

1- 1985 Chevette
This car was my beater through university and I am now starting my project of swapping the drivetrain from a chevrolet s10 into it. And I am planning to make it a convertible. . This will be a good learning experience project for me as I don't have much experience in bodywork

2- 1994 Mustang GT
This car is my baby and I have just completed this project this summer. I built a 408ci windsor high compression engine and did a swap on the car. It was a complete build on the car. I installed 8 point rollcage, new stronger suspension, stronger drivetrain, and lots of electrical goodies! I have many pictures of the build and a few decent videos. Very unique build. made 500rwhp and tips the scales at 3200 lbs (streetlegal) :)

3- 2004 Focus SVT
I don't know much about this car yet. I wanted a daily drive so I could start my chevette project. (That is correct I have a high horsepower race car in the summer and a chevette in the winter). I am really enjoying this focus right now especially things such as a stereo and comfort. After purchasing I noticed a few things which I am sure I will be bringing up later, but I am glad I found this website. The information will be valuable to me!

In the future I am sure once I become more aquanted with the focus I will begin doing some cool work including cnc milling that I will get you guys in if you wish. Cheers!

Below is a link to my pictures of my mustang build and a couple videos. If you would like to check it out. :)

Welcome..I have an 04 SVT (bought new) and it is used everyday for work in New York City , only 36K miles, but hard miles. Only problems- 1 bad O2 sensors and 1bad dual stage intake motor....thats it!. I think by 04, many of the bugs found in the earlier years were resolved. The clutch is still perfect. (second ave in Manhattan is not good on a clutch). Snow tires are a must and combined with traction control makes it very good in snow. I know what I would call snow is probably nothing to you guys, but it works well around here. To sum up, the car is all about driving- it has .excellent handlinig , shifting, engine response ,and a great exhaust sound. Enjoy

I am having alot of fun with this focus but I have noticed a couple things since the purchase. The back doors are starting to rust on the inside at the bottome and so it the hatch right at the ends where the plastic part is. I guess I will be doing some body work before it gets out of control.

It wasn't. So I will have to pull the whole hatch and repaint. The past owner must have had a heated garage and not washed it enough. So I have some work cut out for me. The doors I can grind down and paint with rust paint. No one can see it. The hatch has to come off though to get sprayed. I will do it though because I really like this car. Very cool Daily Driver. Most people don't even think it is a focus when there are inside it.

Holy cow; I had a 1980 Chevette for a beater through college. That thing was indestructible. 1900 pounds soaking wet, rear wheel drive and a manual transmission - it was a demon in the snow with its 155/80R-13 tires.

You are right. This thing was, and still is, a monster in the winter!

And it fit nicely on my sidewalk! lol
