New here from the west coast

Hey I'm new here, have not a single drop of Focus knowledge. I'm looking for a dd while my car is getting built and I don't want something completely shitty. Considered buying a cheap civic hatch and ricing it out as a joke, but also considering other options. Co worker drives a regular Focus hatch, one of the first model years and it seems like a good car. Found this SVT for sale

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false,

Wow that's a long link, like the looks of the color, but does the price not seem kind of high? Not sure what these things go for. But anyway, give me some pros and cons. I've only seen a few svt's on the road, regularly see a black one driven by a young girl on the freeway every morning on my way to work. Thanks!

Considering the mileage and overall cleanliness, and taking into account the fact that the SVT isn't "just another Focus"(and this one has the European Appearance Package), I would try to talk 'em down a bit, but it's not far off from the right price. KBB says $9900.00 for that general car in excellent condition.

Ok cool, it was the only one I found for sale within 50 miles, looks like I'll have to broaden my search. Anything to be wary of with these cars?

Yes, clutch, DSI clip, thermostat housing, etc. Try doing a search, there are many threads about the known issues of the SVT. But it is a really fun car to drive.

What "SS" are you having built?

to FF. You'll find differences between the Cobalt and the SVT's handling characteristics. The Focus suspension does a neat trick under heavy load- the loaded rear tire kicks toe out, so it basically steers around turns. It's very cool, and I had a chance to ride with a guy here who had an SVT and he took a 90 degree turn onto another road at like 60- the oversteer caused by this tripped me out because you usually don't have that much oversteer in FWD cars.
