Exhaust questions

Does anyone know the inner diameter of the svt stock header?

I'm also curious what the smallest point in the exhuast is.

I'm trying to decide if I should go 2.5 inch all the way back, or if 2.25 would be an improvement.?

I have to replace my flexpipe because it makes noise.

I was thinking about going with high flow cat but i worry about heat burning the pain off.

Anyone know where high flow cats are actually instock?

yea stock is 2.25 or a few numbers off. the most restrictive part of the svt exhaust is the cat, i would get a orp or catless down pipe and flex pipe to help the noise. Unless u want your exhaust to be louder, there are very few hp gains from a catback on the svt

Does the 3 inch orp fit the stock svt? If so would it b better then the 2.5?

Let me ask you a question. If I were to do straight pipes all way back but have a large flex pipe (or 2?) would that remove the tinny hollow noise 4cyl's have while still adding a mean sound?

I like the way my stock exhaust sounds, but want more of the same but without the hollow or tinny sound that alot of ricers have when add all that aftermarket crap or do straight pipes.

Straight pipes would prob make it sound kinda ricey. i have a 2.25 magna flow and it pops every time i let off the gas, sometimes it sounds like a gunshot lol. but with straight pipes i would assume it would be much worse than this. i heard from someone that the 2.5 borla catback doesn't pop as much as the magnaflow.. thats what i'm looking to get in the future. search youtube for different exhaust combos on the svt. first compare the borla to the magnaflow, i like the borla a lot more.

The popping doesn't bother me, my Camaro did it, what bothers me is the tone. I hate ricey sounding exhausts, they make me cringe when they sounds like bees buzzing. Plus, the reason for my question is I do not want to drop $100's on exhaust. I would want just the sound so paying that much just isn't worth it to me. So if cutting the cat and muffler off and having them pipe header back with 2.25/2.5" piping would sound good with some flex pipes but not cost me like $300+ on an exhaust system I would see that as a win. I don't really care less about the ~3whp gain from Borla, or Magnaflo or etc.

I'm curious to hear some SVT's with no muffler. :D

I definitly agree, the WOT is amazing. I loved my SR20DE that I had in my 200SX SE-R and the H22A in my Prelude but this definitely takes the 4cyl cake. From about 4,000 to 7,000 it just screams and I love it.

Now if I can just make more of the same without the rice and spending the $... lol
