Arrow Exhaust Questions...

This is related to My SVT. My avatar pic is my other focus.
I got a, what seems to be common, heat shield rattle on my catalytic converter. I was thinking about replacing my whole exhaust system because everything is stock.

Is there any worry in going with borla 2.5 inch? I heard that if there is not enough back pressure it can cause problems.

I heard that people kept the heat shield on because they didn't want the paint to be burnt off from the heat. Does the high flow CAT cause the paint to burn off? I looked at the high flow cat pics and it doesnt look like there is a heat shield. Any opinions?

I think my flex pipe is also making a noise, but I'm not sure. Has anyone had this problem? Any good replacements out there?

This car is all stock and i want to run new exhaust. Does anyone know if that will increase Horsepower. Any stats?

A: Borla- I havent heard of anyone having any problems, Might want to stick with 2.25" though, if you are worried.

B1: Yes heatsheild is there with a purpose unless if you coat it or wrap it then you can remove the sheild...

B2: No, your just unrestricted. I have heard of people wraping there cat as well. 2 Befits come from this... A: Even less heat rolling up B: Even better emsions becuase its helping burn off all the junk.

C: It could be your heat sheild

D: If you do a HFC or ORP (Off road pipe aka catless) Yes you do free up a few extra HP, but not much.

Hopefuly that helped you out.. I am sure there will be 20 other posting beyond me that will correct and counteract everything that i said.

I just like that Borla is 2.5 inch. You would think that going to 2.25 would cause more restriction.

Thanks for the info. I might go with the HFC and wrap it. Thats a good idea.

You said some people coat it? what is this coating you speak of?

Don't worry about being corrected, for some reason I usually only get one or 2 responses to my posts.

from what I've seen on, here back pressure on the SVT is not a problem, meaning you can go to 3" without a problem, although 2.5 is good for n/a and 3" if boosted. that is what I've learned on here.

the cats are not painted, they are stainless steel, some get them ceramic coated which would work the same as if you wrap it, but some will tell you that wrapping them will cause it to rust faster, so that is why they get them ceramic coated which is not cheap
