Eliminating Shifter Slop

Hey, all.

Was just wondering how you would go about elminiating shifter slop on the SVT

I am used to an MG I used to race, which had a super tight shifter, and compared the SVT shifter feels... well, mushy. I took it on the track last weekend, and while in normal driving it is adequite, under duress its too vague.

I am not looking for shortining the shift throw, just elminating vagueness.

Hey, great, Im glad that was easy for you to find for me.

That bush looks like a great candidate for replacement. I wonder how hard the surrounding aluminum is...

Slop? Or spongy feeling? Removing the counter weight gets rid of the spongy feeling... I did it, and I love the feeling of knowing when I actually go into gear.

Also, major improvements in shifting happen when the lower dogbone mount is replaced with something stiffer. The engine/tranny remaining in a consistent position makes hitting the gear a lot easier.

I think the Getrag is very nice feeling, with or w/o counterweight, and especially with a STS.
