SVT Intake Replacement?

Well, it's been about a year and I have still been unable to find a suitable fix for the lost spring behind the DSI lever. Also in this year, there have been ZERO SVTFs at the many junkyards around town. I'm finally sick and tired of the check engine light, but don't want to shell out the big bucks for a brand new SVT IM.

Would a regular 03 focus intake bolt on? And if so, is there some way to delete the IMRC so that it stops throwing a code and the check engine light?

i know www.c-f-m.com sells the DSI lever you could do that, if you went stock zetec airbox there would be a decrease in power

Thanks for the reply. I already have the upgraded lever, its the spring behind it that is impossible to find. I'm not concerned with the loss in power at this point since this is my wife's car and it just needs to be able to pass emissions (no check engine light).

My concern about the stock focus intake is that it would not fix my check engine light because the IMRC is still going to have to be unplugged. Is there any way to flash the computer so that it doesn't check for that anymore? I guess if I could do that, I wouldn't even need to replace the manifold as it runs fine without the IMRC. Does anybody know if this is possible?

the manifold wont bolt up. the bolt spacing is different.

its been a while since this question was asked.

do a search.

id much rather have a 2000 manifold than the SVT. the dsi is crap.

yes, the IMRC can be turned off in your tune.

and believe it or not, the car isnt running very good without the IMRC. your low end power is gone right now. also, the car isnt tuned for it.

post a WTB thread and see if anyone is junking one out.

also, do a search for svtsalvage. he used to have all kinds of little parts laying around.

I did a search first thing, but nothing pertaining to this came up. Also, I had tried svtsalvage almost a year ago and it looked like it no longer existed. No more webpage or anything.

Where could I get this tune done? Is there something specific I should be looking for from a mechanic, or can I get it done through Ford?

Also, you said it wouldn't bolt up, but prefer the 2000 manifold? I'm a little confused. Thanks for the info!

For the IMRC box, you can just rebuild it. There is a great how-to article on here. Works great!

Thanks guys. I've already talked to Steve and there is no way to buy just the spring. Also, I haven't even gotten into the IMRC because I can't get the intake-side of things in working order without that spring. That's why I was wondering about getting a different intake on there or flashing the computer so that it didn't even look for the IMRC anymore.

I'm thinking of maybe rigging something like a carb spring up to the firewall to cause the DSI lever to return when the IMRC box releases tension. Anybody try anything like this?
