Hypothetical Question about Catalytic Converter

Ok...of Hypothetically speaking...if someone...lets say..."Jim" lives in a state let's say.."Michigan" which does not have emissions inspections..and was wanting a little more..exhaust note + power..would a cheap option be to just remove the Cat but keep everything else do the trick..Hypothetically speaking of course..and "Jim" is going to be getting a tune..so he isn't concerned with check engine lights...
What concerns might he have?
No harm to the engine?

I've been searching on here but can't seem to get the simple answer...

If your state has no emission laws, an off road pipe will not hurt the car. You will however need a tune to turn off the cell that you'll have OR find whats called a "cheater" and put it in the O2's place.

someone correct me if Im wrong

Or maybe I should just be asking "how do I get a little more growl from the exhaust system?" But as cheaply as possible!!

well you have a couple options. From your sig it looks as if you have an SVT. You can go to an exhaust shop and have a straight pipe put in place of the first resonator (after your flex pipe) and/or you can cut out and replace the rear resonator or what we like to call here on FF the "lunch box"
Its the box looking thing you can see underneath your rear bumper.

OR if you wanna get fancy search around for a full exhaust setup. It's more costly but if you plan to do future mods they will all work well together.

But what I stated at the top will be the cheapest to get you more "growl"

Yeah, Dominic (Focus_3XZ) makes an off road pipe to replace the cat converter. Only problem is, it doesn't sound the best with stock exhaust. It will get loud at WOT if that's what you want, though. I think he sells them for about $200.

Your car will run like crap until you have a tune done. The computer will notice the difference and try to adjust for it and will not be able to. So your fuel delivery and air fuel ratios will be screwed up till you get a tune with that setup.

You make it sounds like his car will barely run. lol.

It will run OK, but until you get a tune it will not run at its best.

My friend ran ORP without tune for months. It wasn't like it was fighting to run or something, hahaha. Not a big deal, but tunes are great ideas.

Does this cause the air/fuel system any issues? I don't see this effecting any actual power output--just more noise. Is that right? I don't need a tune if I remove the flex pipe and or lunch box? I'd like to be able to spend a little money to get more "growl" out of my exhaust. :D

my car must be an odd one out......... granted I have emissions in my county, but all that "stuff" is gone. I'm moving to another county for college that DOESN'T do them so yeah.

first 02 is OUT (not unplugged) and second is just screwed in normally. All I can say is I've had it running for well over 100 miles and no CEL yet.
