MSD coil pack... worth the money?

It's time for new plugs and wires for my '03 SVT. Are the MSD coil pack and wires really worth $140? Anyone see any benefit in this over the stock Ford parts?

Eric

if your coil is working fine i wouldnt. when i did a full tune up with the msd coil, wires and motorcraft plus i noticed a very nice cahange of how the car runs. dont think it was the coil but more the wires and plugs.

MSD coil is garbage. Proven by multiple datalogs. It doesn't hold a good, constant spark. I believe Pete (illinipo) has a datalog of an MSD coil...the spark line is choppy and terrible. You pretty much can't beat stock coil, believe it or not.

OK! Thanks for the evaluation. Seems like most of the SVT OEM equipment is hard to beat.

aftermarket coils look sexier but the stock coils meet or exceed the performance of most all of them. In fact the coils on the zetec are pretty darn good. Too bad the freakin wire harness connector sucks.

Stock coil has been proven over and over to be the best. Jared from FJ made 530whp with stock coil. John makes 365whp with stock coil. Jim had tons of problems using a coil-on-plug setup. Everyone who is making big power is using the stock coil. If you want the datalog of the MSD coil, contact Pete. Screamin Demon is a waste of money as well.
