Oil pressure gauge, sensor location?

I've got an autometer oil pressure gauge I'm installing in my 02 SVT, any recommendations on where to install the sender?

I've seen oil adaptor plates/spacers that go between the oil filter and the block that allow for the installation of senders and am leaning in that direction.

Any other suggestions for where to install the sender and any issues using the adaptor plate such as issues with the oil cooler, or clearence changing the oil filter?

Thanks

I installed mine at the same location as the factory sending unit I just put a T and the new sending unit.

It located just to the right of the oil filter. Space is tight but it can be done.

Do you have any special rituals when the helmet is concerned like many have? - I wipe it so that I can see better.

I have the motor out of the car and on an engine stand which should greatly help with the access issue :)

As always, thanks Brian you've been a great resource through this.

Well that makes it a lot better then it was for me, I was under my car for hours messing with it, then worried for week if it would fail and blow all the oil out.

If you T into the stock sending unit *be sure to use steel pipe*. Brass pipe is much weaker and *will* break on you.

I went looking for and found the stock oil pressuer sensor. It's circled in red below. I noticed there are 2 more plugs in the block that seem to be very similar. Can I just remove one of the plugs show circled in blue and use it for my guage sensor?

Also, circled in green, I believe this to be a block heater, can anyone confirm that?

Yes you can. Just make sure you have room for the starter. And, yes, the block heater is the other thing shown in the soft-plug hole. You must have a euro.

Does that make me cooler? On a more serious note, any significant differences with a euro? Is it just a package you could order, I know there was the european appearance package? I bought this motor from a junkyard in PA.
