Ok calling out for help

Has anyone here done the torsen install, if so how the f$#@ did you get the berings on to the new diff? We've been pounding all day still not ont. tried freezing it and heating the bearing with a torch, no outcome. just looking for some pointers.

NVM I guess the people at ford dont know there bearings very well and sold me the wrong ones, got it fixed

Freezing it contracts but that's not what you want.


Heating with a torch has changes the temper of the metal. Plenty of self taught types will tell you, "It don't hurt it no way." DO NOT listen to them, they know not what they say!

GET A NEW BEARING! THE TEMPER IS NOT WHAT IT WAS and it will fail when you least expect it. I don't have the photos anymore - Hell, they predate internet forums! BUT, some guys I knew in the Army cost us LOTS of tax $$$ heating bearings, luckily there were no injuries.

Just call it a lesson in metallurgy - go forth and heat bearings no more.

THEN, if you have to make friends with a machinist who can make you a drift that will fit BOTH into the inner race and over the top of it...the video is a good (except for not covering the splines before pulling a seal over them.)

Does anyone think ONE broken bolt holding bell housing to the tranny will cause problems? all the other bolts are torqued and i put gasket sealany stuff on it. One bolt broke during torqing them down.
