lightweight flywheel = transmission idle noise?

I want to get a lightweight flywheel for my 04 svt since I know these things are heavy and even heavier than the normal zetec's.

I'm sure that I'll hear the chattering noise on idle...but how loud is it going to be? I'm trying to keep my car as quiet as possible...I don't mind some noise but is it going to be really loud?

what flywheel do you guys recommend? I think I've seen 9lbs and 11lbs

would the car run nicer? noticeable?

I would appreciate help!

thanks!

The chatter at idle will be noticeable...but the performance gain I feel outweighs it. I really don't understand people's fixation with not wanting the chatter. Typically, modifying a car doesn't make it quieter. I agree chatter isn't a sexy sound, but I couldn't care less. Light flywheel allows the car to rev up faster when doing down shifts and improves overall throttle response.

what clutch can I get with a fidanza? I'm looking for a stage 2-3

and how much does a fidanza weigh?

I know my car will be louder with mods...but I don't want it to be annoying or bothersome lol

thanks!!!

Here was my best to explain it....have you ever timed an old distributor cap motor?
When you pull the vacuum line and the idle is near stall almost like a spark knock......That's what the flywheel chatter sounds like to me, but quieter. I really didn't think it was that bad. At least it doesn't do it under load, that would just plain suck.

when i first installed my fidanza flywheel and clutch masters clutch on my frist engine it made the rattle at idle. just recently swapped in another engine and used the same clutch yet i dont have any rattle at idle anymore. was kinda strange. only thing i notice is a ticking as i go down the road. can only hear it when there is something beside it to echo off of. and mainly only when i slowing down do i hear it due to the sound of the engine. dont think its anything major. just kinda a faint sound like when were kids and would put things on the spokes of the bike tires. has to be the tranny since it it isnt effected the gears.

does the chatter come from the throw out bearing? should I change that too? that should come with the clutch right?

The chatter comes from gear rollover. It is a good idea to change all the clutch components at the same time. Otherwise, you'll have to drop the trans multiple times. Dropping trans = not fun.
