What gives with the SVT highway MPG???

So I was reading through an MPG thread in the "Official Polls & Surveys" section and was reading some people, with SVT's, getting 32-34 MPG. None really specify their driving styles or if that is HWY or City. I personally get about 27-28 MPG and drive 90% City/10% HWY. This past weekend, I drove out to San Diego from Tucson, AZ. I was doing about 75-80mph the whole way in cruise control and still only managed to get 29-30 MPG. Just changed the oil about 1500 miles ago and tires were at the proper PSI. What gives?? How does one get 32-34 MPG on an SVT. Below is my mileage. The 03/19 to 03/25 represent my California trip and before that is my daily city driving. Not much of a difference :( Any suggestions to up my MPG's?

Not sure how the previous owner treated this car, but I change the oil every 3000 miles and use either Castrol Syntec or Royal Purple oil. I ONLY use Chevron and use the techron cleaner after every oil change. I generally shift before 3K RPM. I think this is the reason for the good city mileage. New spark plugs and wires? Not sure what else I can do to help my mileage.

I got this car with about 26K miles and I am approaching 50K miles now. So the engine itself is not old by any stretch of the imagination.

The only thing wrong with the vehicle is the fact that the clutch will need to be replaced soon. Not sure if this plays a part on MPG's. The clutch is not slipping or anything....thank goodness

It varies in that range.

I drove to Dallas TX from Houston TX once and got 30mpg.

I've also tested a full tank on running the car through Traffic and AutoX and got 26mpg

And then tested me baby-ing the clutch and gas and still managed 27 mpg city.

So it can be a number of things. Your area that you live in could change how much you can get on a tank.

I averaged about 27 mpg on my trip to Florida a couple years ago, doing probably 75 the majority of the time. But I had about 80k miles on it at the time, will new plugs help me out?

Look at it like this..... you're still getting better mileage than Ford said it would.
