Not really, you would however notice a difference with a cat delete pipe (ORP). Those generally net 5-8whp. The actual stock catback is a really nice piece, it's 2 3/8 so the tubing is actually larger than some aftermarket catbacks, the mufflers are the restrictive piece and they're not even that bad. Like I said though, an ORP is about the only reals gains to be had with the exhaust (N/A atleast)

If you were to get a "full custom straight exaust for 200" like your friend did (and like I did on my first standard zx3, haha), you're likely to lose a few whp unless that shop does a damn good mandrel-bending job for $200. Even with basic supporting mods, the most we can really get from a catback (a good one... $3-500 plus install) is a few wheel ponies. Most of us do exhaust and intake mods... unashamedly... for the sound. Even the popular "lunchbox delete" opens up your exhaust note and removes the most potentially restrictive piece of the exhaust... save for the cat. If you're in a state that allows aftermarket high-flow cats (or one that doesn't require them at all), there you may see improvement when your HFC/ORP and other mods are supported with a tune.

If you can confirm that a system from these guys won't reduce your power, and it's $200 to get the sound you want - go for it! Sounds like a good, inexpensive way to up the fun factor. Did he get his on an SVT too, though? For 2.0 I-4's, it will sound very different than most little cars with a "straight" exhaust. Just somethin to consider. Good luck!

I don't like the sound of a HFC but It does add a bit of power NA. In America it''s legal in 49 states (discluding California) I believe. Your location is Indio which idc if it's in the US. I don't know laws in other nations
