Aftermarket Intake Manifold for SVTs

Ok, so I may be late in coming to this revelation but it is still a bit odd that there is not an aftermarket intake manifold for the SVT Focus. I can understand why given that the stock manifold is so advanced to begin with. However, from what I have heard it is not so good for boosted applications, which is what I plan on eventually pursuing. So my question is> What am I suppose to do for an intake manifold? Am I willing to build one if it comes to that but I would rather not have to go to that trouble. Help

Jack

I would like to make at least 300hp to start with. Just concerned about the manifold taking the pressure. Eventually the motor will be built with forged internals including low compression pistons. But I plan to do some low turbo boost before that on the stock engine (with the proper supporting mods of course). The car is a work in progress. I just think it is really strange that there is no aftermarket manifold for the SVT.

CFM used to make one... not sure what happened to that. Probably had something to do with low demand for a $900 manifold. Thing was sweet though...

Jay Racing makes one and there are considerable gains with it on high boost. The stock manifold can take a lot of boost and will make good power, though.

a home brew short runner intake manifold would be good for top end but you could lose low end torque due to low air velocity. i ran one of these many moons ago on my rabbit 16v turbo...worked great, but i had the intake and exhaust poirts hogged out as far as they would go with as big a valve as i could squeeze in there and was running a very big turbo. low end was nonexistent with the stock manifold and when i changed for this one it was worse.

any competent machine shop/fabricator sould be able to knock one up pretty easily, i'm sure for very hig boost applications 2bar+ the stock manifold is bound to distort eventually. but as tom says..the stock on works fine
