180 degree thernostat question

I'm thinking about getting the CFM 180 degree thermostat soon. I was wondering if they take forever to warm up? My jeep has a colder thermostat and it takes like 20 minutes of driving to warm up. Anyone who has it, did you notice anything different?

A colder thermostat shouldn't take longer to warm up; it should just not warm up to as high of a temperature. I have a 180 in my SVT and it warms up just fine in the dead of winter. In order to get the full advantage of the lower t-stat though, you should have the ECU tuned to turn the radiator fan on earlier, as well. Otherwise, the t-stat is only being effective at cruising speed.

1) I would pay $15 for a thermostat when you can go to any parts store and get one for about half the price.

2) unless you have a tune to turn the fans on sooner you wont notice anything.... and it wont run any cooler without the tune.

Air flow at highway speeds should keep the temps at 180 without the tune, but yea it'll still run at 195 when idling or at low speed.

even cheaper the make it yourself from your stock one.

Just find a stock one, and turn the spring a 1/4 turn out of it's holder, and your done. It performs just like my old 180* thermo that rusted.

sounds like I should hold off until I get a tune for it. I don't need a thermo mine's fine. I was just curious if it helps since it seems like the SVT motor hates being hot but no biggie
