New Guy Here-few quick questions...

Okay so I've only really started getting interested in cars in the past 2 years or so, and I learn more every time I read about them.

I've been thinking about a new daily driver for a while now, and the Focus SVT has always been at the top of my list. But of course, I'd like to do a few performance mods, nothing major, but enough to notice.

I've been reading a lot of people are getting "Tom's Tune" from focus power, now here's the new guy question, how do I go about getting it? I can't find it anywhere on the site, and every time I search the forums I just encounter more terms I don't know >.< Any help would be greatly appreciated : D A quick explanation of what it is would be great too, i'm still learning

Austin

Toms tune is basically a software upgrade for your car. It tunes the engine control unit and changes amounts of fuel put into your engine. In order to get toms tune you will need a ECU reprogramer. In order to get the tune you will need to contact tom. In the discussion forums go to the focus-power chat. If you are considering toms tune I would also get an intake and an exhaust. That will really wake your car up.

the tune comes in a hand held flasher that works through the ODB2 port... the SVT can not use a normal chip.

And yes its worth it.

to get ahold of Tom send a PM to 1turbofocus thats his screen name on here.

Yeah its not a chip. I believe for your car the SCT X3 is the flasher your car would need. Then all you need to do is talk to tom for a tune.

exhaust makes it louder, stock exhaust is good unless you don't like the sound. Same pretty much goes for the intake. I would not give up either though. I love the sound and very slight performance gain that my intake and exhaust have given me. I just don't like the look of the hks muffler anymore. Also I can vouch(since I have it) that tom's tune is great and really improved the response of the car and overall driveability! Get it, you will not be disappointed.
