Talking Ford has upgraded warranty for *new* SVTF

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but my fav local Ford dealer let me know that any new SVTF bought on or after October 1st '03 will now have a 5yr/100k mile powertrain warranty, along with the 3yr/36k mile bumper-to-bumper.

Looks like I'm in the clear for a while...

Not having any problems as of yet, had the flash done a few days after I got it, had noticed the surging and batt light. I took it back to the dealer, told them it needed an ECU update to correct a few probs and prevent others that might come up, and they fixed me right up. Only question the service writer had for me was... "And this new update will fix all the problems you are having with the car, there isn't anything else?" "No, that should be all it needs." "Ok sir, we'll call you when it's ready."

Big props to Brannen Ford in Byron, Ga... very friendly, very helpful folks.

My dealer here in San Antonio, TX. was great also compared others I've heard about.
BTW, Rsdnt-Evle, my father lives in Byron, Ga. Walker Rd.

Heh, small world indeed. I know where Walker Rd is. Tell him if he gets passed on the highway by some "jerk in a red car" that I'm not actually a jerk... it's just that the new hasn't worn off yet...

Maybe he said Aug 1st then... or something. Saw some folks worried that their warranty was almost up, made me think of it. So either Ford is confident that they've worked out all the bugs and want to prove it by extending the warranty, or they don't want folks upset with them and extended it trying to keep the peace. Seems the '02 cars are the ones having more problems than the '03s, unless I'm mistaken. The downside of having the first few batches of hi-tech autos.

Hey Rsdnt-Evle, I let the old man know and this was his response.

LOL tell him if he sees a big black 4X4 bearing down on him just hold steady till I pass over him. Any sudden turns could be fatal.

lol I'll keep that in mind. I know the feeling... I have a Jeep, red as well, with a '77 Ford 400 V8 and 38" tires. There has been a few times where I wanted to squash some little zippy car that was in my way...

Yup, this might have started a bit sooner than Oct 1st though. Bought mine in September and got the 5/100 warranty.

I have an early model 02 SVT Focus and this the 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty has been in effect since last year. (verified this with the dealer I bought mine from both when I bought it and just recently) My build model is 842 and this info was given to me before I bought as I was trying to get the dealer to kick in an extended bumper to bumper just to sweeten the deal but they told me about the 5/100,000 instead that already came with the car.
