About Header Wraps

I am going to Wrap my new header I bought off another fellow member.

But I want to know if the DEI one is the one the EVERYONE RECOMMENDS or is there another Wrap that any of you guys suggest.

I have seen some other wraps for a few bucks less or even half the cost of the DEI one and I would like some feedback to reason why or be swindled to stick with the DEI one. Thanks.

I used DEI wrap on my header and it is a pretty quality product. When my friend got a header for his ZX3 he bought some black ebay wrap. It was much much thinner then the DEI. The ebay wrap also smelled 10x worse then the DEI wrap. I would stick with the DEI cause I am sure it will last much longer.

There are some other good brands out there that might be a little less but I do not recall the names.

Go here: http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...eader+wrap&x=0

Summit has their own brand but the DEI is more expensive. Focus.c-f-m has the metal ties for cheaper.

You want about 50' x 2"

^^^Agreed. That's about what I used when I did my ZX3's SVT header. I used the DEI stuff and never had any problems, but I've heard good things about Summit too.

Thanks guys.

I will be looking into those wraps and decide then. I was going to buy DEI, but I just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything else ... Summit looks good too, but for a $5 - $10 difference I might just buy the DEI.

Thanks again for the info ... and I have been looking at the HowTo Sticky on the wrapping ... I will post some pics in the rigs when I am done with getting one and putting it on. (Haven't posted a pic since ... well forever)

A silly question....what is the point of wrapping the header? Wouldn't that resist the heat from escaping from the header?

^^^ You have it backwards, its better to have no heat escaping from the header. Firstly to help with exhaust scavenging secondly it cuts down on your engine bay temps.

-Yes, that's the point. The wrap keeps the heat in the header and going out of your exhaust instead of escaping into your engine bay, which will cause greater heat soak issues, and decrease efficiency.

Yes, now i get it, the main point is so that the heat does not go on the engine, but it escapes through the exhaust. all good info...thanks
