Redemption

Dunno if you guys heard the beginning of my whole maskarade with blowing up my engine but this is the whole $hitty tale.

I managed to find an SVT engine from a wrecked 02 for 1000 and came with a 3 month warranty. I found someone who could do a swap quoted for 500. The replacement was pretty beat up so a lot of things had to be replaced so it actually cost more like 850 for installation with fluids and gaskets and stuff. While my engine was out he noticed my clutch was messed up too so i had to buy a 450 dollar clutch.

After i got it put in the car ran like crap, we had the mechanic diagnose and try and fix it for another 250 but the problem we thought it was was not it so i brought it to the ford dealer and they fixed something with timing and the computer for 400 and it ran a lot better. A little while later it was still running bad so we had them look at it at it again, possibly dirty fuel injectors hopefully. Nope, one of the cylinders was bad so it was only partially firing on all 4. They said the engine was bad and now I need a replacement.

So... im now 3000 into it and back to square one. I managed to get some money pulled out of my college savings to pay because now im flat broke. Im returning the engine for my 1000 back, and bought a new bare svt crate from ford for 3700 and im having my same guy swap it again, this time for 600. So the grand total of this crap storm comes out to 5700 dollars.

Also, when my engine grenaded fluids and oil got all inside from the headers all the way back to the exhaust tip, so I had to cut and unbolt everything out and wash it out with lacquer thinner and put it back in. I measured wrong so the weld makes the exhaust sit crooked out of the back fascia.

heres pics of the new beauty, seeing it makes everything better.

Wow that new engine looks pretty.

Hopefully this time she will get all fixed up. Did you go through a lot of trouble finding that engine? Cause I heard they are really hard to come by these days.

Yeh when my dealership ordered mine, it only took a few days, there is a plaque on the front of mine say Remanufactured 1/19/2009, that was like 2 days before the dealer got it, awesomeness. It's like Ford had some magical button that make SVT motors blow up a month or so ago and they had a bunch of blocks ready to sell us all new motors, too bad they didn't realize I had a month left on my PT warranty, I wish you had too, much easier to let Ford deal with the bill for a faulty product.

I was just getting ready to look up the prices from Tom... I understand why you did what you did w/the first motor (and whoever sold you that motor shoud have a ummmmm, errrrrrrr "stern talking to....", as my father used to put it), but on the second go around, some more research was called for, like heading straight here.... good luck!
