Spark plugs

I just got some Denso iridium plugs in the mail. The place I ordered them from said that I dont have to gap them. But when I checked the gap its only at .030 the manual states that they should be at .050. Should I gap them or put them in the way they came?
Thanks Josh

You will want to gap them to factory specs. If you can gap to .060 might even be better.....Personally I would throw those plugs out and put in some Motorcraft copper cores but thats just me.

have you installed them? I used the motorcraft for two reasons: stock replacement and everyone here loves them. they do run good, but I nothing to compare them to.

iridium is not a very good conductor of electricity, the advantage of it is that it is VERY hard and therefore long lasting. People used to use iridium plugs in drag racers that would chew up their plugs before they even completed the 1/4 mile.

Platinum is the same idea, long lasting but not a super good conductor...

Copper is pretty much the best conducting metal out there that is feasable to make a spark plug out of. The downside is that they don't last too long. We change ours every 10k or so...
