serpentine belt question

my ac punp went out on my car so I was just going to get a shorter serpentine belt and run without the ac pump to get a little extra horspower. my question is how do i know what length to get. do they make a belt that is made to run without the ac. Thanks

Im on my phone right now and unable to look at a belt diagram. if it is possible, take a seamstress tape measure and measure the length of the belt you need while bypassing the Ac. make sure you take in consideration the length while the tensioner is in place.

You wont net any power with the AC bypassed because the AC cog is on a magnetic clutch - when the AC or defrost are not on, the cog spins freely.

If you want to do away with the AC just go get a belt for a standard Zetec without AC......
