Aftermarket Cam Gears

Hey everyone. I was wondering if the sell an aftermarket cam gear kit for the svt focus because i was on C-F-M.com and the ones i was looking at said that only the exhaust cam gear would work on the svt. If you know where i could get a complete set that would work on my focus SVT I would appreciate it. Thanks

The ONLY way you can use 2 cam gears on the SVT is to do the VCT delete (which costs about $100 in parts plus you should get it changed in your tune)... without doing the VCT delete you can only use 1 cam gear (exhaust side).

The SVTF has variable cam timing for the intake cam. You wouldn't want to replace that. Unless you tune your car on a dyno with the exhaust cam it is not worth it, and you probably wont see all that much difference anyway unless you are running nitrous...

And by the way... There are plenty of threads that would have easily answered this question. The search button is your friend.

03OrangeSVT nailed it. most say that the VCT delete isnt worth the money and is more hassle than what its worth.

Yeah . The Cam gears are a waste. There are a lot better things to spend your money on.

No no no... I was mearly telling him what is needed.... I'm a FIRM believer in doing away with the VCT.

We saw gains across the entire rpm range when we did mine.

really. then you make the only person that says it. i havent personally asked tom about them but everyone else speaks of camgears being a waste of time/money. how much of an increase do they give? of course your experience is on a FI'd fofo, i doubt a NA SVTF will yield the same perspective numbers.

oh and when i said you nailed it, i was speaking only of the comment you made about the parts needed to use aftermarket cam gears.
