How do I inspect my timing belt?

I've been reading all these posts about the tmimng belts, and I assume these are intereference engines.. I used to have a Spirit R/T and changed timing belts on it, but on that car, if it broke no big deal, nothing would contact inside.

So I just got a '04 SVTF with 112k miles on it. And it makes a little noise from the belt area. kinda like cards in bicycle spokes at low RPMS. Sounds exactly like my dodge did when the belt did not have enough tnsion on it or had stretched.

How can I visually inspect it to see if it needs to be replaced? The car appears to be fairly well maintained, but I want to be sure the timing belt is in good shape.

you don't inspect, you just replace it also replace the tensioner and idler pulley. you just bought it w/ 112k miles. just replace it now and you won't have a problem later on. Ford says 100k for timing belt replacement. people are replacing them at 60k and there are people who's belt broke around 80k. just be safe and replace it now.
