Drove SVT

What's up guys. Civic Si owner here. It's an '08 I got it about 6 months ago. Don't flame me, my wife still has a 2000 Focus ZTS.

Anyways, her sister got an '03 SVT Focus a few months ago. I've always wanted one but I couldn't find any new ones when I was looking for a new car. Plus the new Focus is UGLY IMHO.

Her car has 83k miles on it but it's in good shape. Oh yeah, she let me drive it the other day. I have to say after driving my Si for the last few months, I forgot what torque is. The SVT has really good power compared to the Si. She said it has a new 6 speed tranny and clutch in it, but it felt very rough. Are they all like this? Or is her's not installed right? Or not even replaced? I don't know, it shifted fine, but I'm just used to the super smooth shifting in my Si. Being on a worn out suspension it had somewhat sloppy handling, it was probly alot better when it was new.

All in all, I liked the SVT. I'm just wondering though what her car would run stock in the 1/4 mile. My Si ran 15.9, and the SVT felt faster to me.

Not sure about the 1/4 mile times but your 08 SI stock for stock will blow any Focus away.

I just looked up the #'s on the SVT. It barely has more torque than my Si and about 30 less horsepower. I don't know why it felt faster, but it did. I guess I'll have to get her car to the track and see what it'll do. My 15.9 run in my Si is not the best it can do. I only made 3 runs in it and was not happy with any of them. I figure I can get my car down to 15.5 if I get some practice. I really want to autocross it, since that is it's strong suit.

All the bogging comes from a mediocre stock tune. I think you be even more impressed if you drove one with ORP/High Flow Cat, Tom's tune and a drop in filter.

that is about what a SVT gets in a 1/4 stock. right in the 15s.

Don't forget honda makes all there performance engines rev happy, and usually your powerband is steeper and much higher in the rpm range. Best way to check it out is compare two dyno sheets from both the cars.

I gotta admit, I love the 8k rpm redline on my Civic. But that is the downfall, it has no power until 5-6k.
