From the factory they recommend 5w30, but I ran 15w50 in mine for the 20k miles I owned it. You can basically run whatever weight you prefer. For the trans, you just have to use the RP synchromesh stuff. In my opinion the only way to really flush it out would be to change it once, run it like that for a few days then drain and fill again.

I believe your svt takes an FL-2005 oil filter, the same one for the zetec.

You're kidding, right?
Good Lord, I seriously can't believe your engine actually made it that far running something that thick.

There's a reason the manual calls for 5W-30.
Don't just run "whatever weight you prefer".
TBIDDY83, I'd stick with what the rest of us are running, which is the factory recommended weight.

Filter as mentioned is a Motorcraft FL-2005,
or a lot of us use a WIX 51315.

*cough*Amsoil*cough* lol no but really. Stick with the factory weights. Using something as thick as 15w is just asking for it. And for filling the transmission just fill it till it starts coming dripping out of the hole while the car is on level ground.

Odd, my manual calls for a FL400S, which is also what was on my car when I purchased.
