DSI Clip & IMRC install done!!! pics

So I replaced both, it was not fun doing it, but now that I know how, it does not seem that bad.

Anyway, I figured these pics might help the next person.

3 points.

1. You have to take out your front light and blinker bar to get to the IMRC motor. This is what your focus will look like.

2. make sure the dsi clip is pefectly straight, this way you will know that you put it on correctly. I tried probably 20 or 30 times before I got it on right. I had to twist it on, making sure that the spring was attached properly.

3. My IMRC motor was bad because of 2 things
a) the cable would not reach over to the post
b) the motor sounded horrible

look thru the whole where the headlight should be, lower right part of the car and there is a silver box. That is the IMRC motor. Here is a pic

Did you replace the DSI Clip because it was broken or just because since you were in the area? I have the IMRC ready to put in I might get the DSI just because.

First, I heard the IMRC motor making noises, so I ordered another one. After further investigation, I saw that the DSI clip/lever was broken. The stock DSI clip/lever is really really weak plastic.

I had read up on how to somewhat "fix" the DSI clip/lever, and I did that, with a screw, dremmel, and grinder, but I found some other posts, that said it was not a permanent solution, so I just ordered the billet one. Glad I did, it is all metal and much more sturdy than the stock.

I am still in amazement that Ford in their infinite wisdom, uses plastic for such an important part of the car. They did the same thing with the 4.6 V8 in the Mustang for the upper intake. That got them a lawsuit and gave me $750 in my pocket :)
