CRAP, stuck in fifth.

I was driving home from work tonight and got on the highway went to shift into fifth and it felt wierd, went in hard. Went to shift to sixth and it stuck in fifth. Luckily I get out of work at 1am so I was able to get it home without having to stop. Any Idea what screwed up? Please dont let it be the tranny.

^^ Yup ^^ Shift Linkage.

Happens to me here and there.

IF you are able to move your shifter everywhere, but doesn't budge gear wise ... that is what it is. An unfortunately Common issue.

Yep happened to me too, except I was stuck in 1'st (which is probably better than being stuck in 5'th)

As I recall, there has been a redesigned set of shifter cables which Ford put on my car; I haven't had any shifting problems since.

You might search around in the forums, I recall seeing a clever way to keep the cable ends secure using zip-ties.

Checked the shift linkage and it seems to be ok, still stuck in gear. Anything else I can check?
