We had to pretty much break the last one,

You may have to drop the radiator out to get it done without tearing anything up.

you can get the heat shield out by taking the fans out. It bends a little but can be bent back.

Anybody have a recommendation for painting the heatshield? I have to replace one of my fans (AC fan motor is frozen, lack of use probably killed it) and was going to pull the heatshield off because it looks like crap.

Figured I could leave it off or paint it. It's rusting here and there so I'll scuff it up with some sandpaper first, but is that 1200F engine/caliper paint good enough? If I'm not mistaken exhaust can hit 1800F inside the headers... It'd look even worse if I painted it and the paint burned off.

Is ceramic-powdercoating worth it? I was quoted $50-$60.

if you were to get ceramic coating, the heatshield wouldnt be the thing to coat. you should coat the header instead and junk the shield.
jet-hot coatings will prolly quote you @170 and you will not have the header for about 1-2 weeks cuz you got to ship it to them in PA
