How can I tell if my IMRC is bad?

I have this brand new IMRC motor and I don't know if I need it.

My DSI clip is broken.

The IMRC motor is making a horrible noise.

The IMRC cable is not long enought to get to the post I created on the DSI.

So, the question is, is the IMRC motor bad?

If I put in the new motor will it have a longer cable, so that I can actually connect it.

Also, it appears the cable is attached to the housing that surrounds the DSI clip. Is there a way to take the cable out of that housing, attach it tot he DSI and then push it back into the housing?

Yes, it make a noise on startup, loud and cyclical grinding noise I unplugged it for now.

since I cannot put the dsi clip on the dsi post i created, I was thinking that the imrc motor had pulled the cable in to much and was not funtional anymore. I have a new one sitting right here, but did not want to open it, if my current imrc was good.
