What is a DSI?

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but what is a DSI and where is it located? I want to check if mine is still in good shape or if its broken.

i see you have a 04 svt, so u have the latest tune from the factory which makes the dsi open up earlier around 5000-5100rpm. you will hear a change in exhaust tone, slight change but is noticable.

with the stock airbox setup its pretty hard to find, its pretty low on the throttle body, i'd say find a good light, and a dental mirror if u have one haha. and check down low by the right side of the throttle body. if you have a sri or cai its easier to see.

"How To" Broken DSI Clip Fix

^^ link to "how to fix broken dsi clip" i has a lot of clips to see what the area around the dsi looks like and what a really good example of a broken dsi clip repair

The best way I've found to see it is to pop off the airbox AFTER the MAF. All you have to do is pop the metal clip and then pull up really hard on the airbox and eventually it will pop out. This will allow you 100% access to the DSI clip. Just make sure you line up the opening on the bottom of the airbox with the snorkel it is attached to when you put it back on. Also, make sure you unhook the Mass air flow sensor before you pull it off.

DSI clip

So yeah i see all these dsi threads but never looked into it and since i saw one saying what is dsi? and i never actually knew, i thought i'd check it out. Well now after some reading, i see it says it causes you to have no lower end and what seems like a power boost above 5000. Well i bought the car used so i thought this was normal for the svt. but now i'm uber curious so when i get out of here i'm gonna go check... i think mine is broke...

after you locate the DSI clip, if you really really want to make sure everything is working properly, just look at the clip/wire and have a friend rev your car up to about 5500 to make sure the cable pulls the clip open...

its easy, and imo the best way to make sure everything is working totally 100%
