Red face Bad bad bad!

Can anyone explain the process to which engine compression is established and what an Svt engine's compression should be at 90k?

Well, got some bad news today. The compression test was performed and the numbers are scary. CYL#1-100 dry 100 wet
CYL#2-100dry 120 wet
CYL#3-60 dry 60 wet
CYL#4-100dry 120wet
So I'm pretty much gutted as I was purchasing the pwrwrks kit next month. Looking at the figures it's obvious cylinder 3 is burnt and needs replaced and I may need new rings. Do I get the work done to "refresh" the engine as they call it and have the head ported at the same time? Any thoughts?

What do you mean by "wet"?

My Cyl 1 is low, also... about 85.

I'm surprised your third cylinder was even firing at 60 psi.

The correct way to do a compression check is...

Start the car and allow it to come up to operating temps then do the test (unplug the coil and hook up your test set) roll over the motor roughly 5 seconds then check the gauge.

there is no wet/dry.

Roughly you should be around 120-135 psi compression and each cylinder shhould be within 10% of each other.

When doing it, WOT, Crank for about 5 seconds, record readings. The wet on what he is talkign about is squartin a few drops of oil in there.

my car has been at mcnews for 3 weeks now and today they told me it has 105 on 2 cylinders and 115 on the other 2 i was thinking that was bad but if you say 120-135 is about right then im not in that bad of shape, although they could only make 5 more hp with the 10psi pulley than the 8. im gona do rods and pistons soon though.
