Purchasing 2004 EURO SVT, Anything to look out 4?

Hello,

This is my first "official" post. I am a die hard SVT lover with one highly modded lightning in my garage. I'm traveling from Michigan to Alabama tomorrow to purchase a 2004 Black SVT Focus (EURO) with 28K on the clock. It was female owned and a local car in Alabama, so I'm sure it hasn't seen the nasty roads like we have up here in MI.

CarFax didn't tell me crap, but a dealer buddy gave me info that the car was in for a few service visits... i.e..rattle and clamp install on the CAT, a CAT check, a check engine light issue and something leaking from the clutch onto the brake petal inside the car, which were all fixed. These were all separate issues, except for the clamp on the CAT and the CAT check.

I'm asking for advice on things I should look for when going over the car tomorrow. I would openly accept any advice you can provide and thank you in advance.

Also, opinions on the price would help too! I'm currently at $12,300 for the car. Fair deal, good deal or paying too much.

Thanks.
Mike

Thanks.

Yeah, they offered to "pick" me up from the airport. Figured I wouldn't get away then. I've got the GF going with, so I have an escape route. I'd like to get it knocked down even more.

make sure the clutch TSB was done on the car... or gets done. the cat bracket did have problems on the svt... so that is no big deal. the clutch issue was one of the main probs with the car. but you are a lucky schmo... you must really want an svt to fly down to get the car... make sure you post up some pics of it when you get back

I talked to my dealer here and he says a TSB doesn't mean it has to be done, just a basic advisory for the tech to review if the car comes in with a problem. Any specifics on what the TSB clutch issue was to narrow it down? The flight to AL was $130 and couldn't find a EURO package anywhere with under 40,000. I'll be sure to post pics.

So, your opinion 12,300 is a decent buy?

I got my 2004 european appearance package svt in colorado at a ford stealership for less than 11000. it had almost 50k on the odometer. i think the eap is overrated, wheels bend easily, recaro seats are too slick and u slide around, and u can just buy aftermarket hids. Ide go with the regular svt

I'd say 12,300 is a decent deal. When I bought mine back in may with 45000 they wanted 15800, I turned around and left, they called me five min later and said they will come down on the price a bit. When I left with the car I only paid 12,000 for it with a 2/24,000 mile warranty free.
