trouble shifting between 1 and 2 at high revs

hi all

did an autocross on sunday, and was having real difficulty changing from 1st to 2nd and honestly struggling to get back into 1st as well.

i have just added poly engine mounts all round and i am wondering whether i need to adjust the gear linkage? i here that this is fairly straightforward on the getrag, any body done this, know how to?

thanks

Do you have an STS, or the stock shifter?
I had that (1-2) problem as well for a while till I changed the rear mount, installed an STS, and removed the counterweight.

That's a tough gate to hit, especially when you're getting on it on an AutoCross course.
Make sure you're not pulling the shifter towards you when going to 2nd gear.
You need to go slightly right of straight back, or you end up hitting the Reverse gate.
(Same thing on a downshift to 1st...don't push it to the left, or you'll hit the Reverse gate)

Also, in this case, short shifting can help.
If you're trying to bang 2nd gear right when the rev limiter hits, that's almost a guaranteed miss-shift.

EDIT:
Here's an old post of mine on the same subject:

Linkage adjustment may help:

used to banging gears in on a bike.
