Question Clutch Issue

So far I have 61,000 miles on my 04SVTF, I drive it very spirited. The other day I was messing around and power shifted from 3-4 and the clutch slipped like hell. So I got out of it and took it easy for a couple of miles, the clutch would not slip any more unless I started to push the pedal in. Now since I have owned the car (45,000) the clutch has always released up near the top of pedal travel. I have less than an inch of free travel, I was thinking that maybe the slave cylinder needs to be bled. Every once and a while the clutch will slip a little just after I release the clutch pedal. I have taken the car to the drag strip and worked with my launch as high as 6k and didn't have any trouble out of it. Do I just need to bled it? or What?

yeah you dont need to launch that high ever in an svt anyways.... and it sounds like it mite be the clutch itself.... mine was doing the same thing but would drive fine until i put the juice on it and then when i shifted it just revved up when i changed gears, if its not out it aint far from it.... check the clutch pedal too for wetness to see if the master cylinder is bad also....

Hey, I was just figuring out how to launch it I also launched at 1500, 2000, 2500, 2800, 3000, 3200 etc. But I was not on the strip when this happened. I was driving along messin around and power shifted 3-4 and it slipped, let off the gas went back to normal, got back on it: No slip

It appears that your launching at the strip, cooked your clutch.
Thats what everyone is trying to point out.

Well, i got a buddy of mine and we bled the clutch. Now the clutch releases right in the middle where I wanted it to. It had always released at the top for all of the 16,000 miles I have put on the car, but it just slipped the other day. But it's fixed now.
