Backfire and popping

Hi, my concern is that when i give my svt a little gas and then get off of it there is a fairly good amount of popping from my exhaust my car is completely stock no mods at all, i was just curious if this is normal or maybe the dealer i bought the car from put some crappy oil in it or something???

I loved that sound on my SVTF. Things run rich from the factory tune and it's just a bit of unburnt fuel hitting the exhaust, it's normal on your car.

I'm not sure about it backfiring, mine only did that after I put on the ORP and only on a cold motor. But the burble sound when you get off the gas is a very normal thing.

its due to the high compression ratio so when up lift off the throttle theres a high back pressure cause thats sound its just a poping sound no back fire or flames. if you get a cat back it will sound even better

Yeah the car just runs rich all the time. My old Mx6 turbo would do it constantly, but that was because I put in massive injectors and up'ed the boost to 18lb...

either way it sounds very nice, but also causes not so nice gas mileage :(

Backfiring and popping are emission symptoms of the stock tune that go completely away with aftermarket attention to the programming.

Some people dig the sounds...I thought they were fine too. But I DIDN'T dig how the car ran otherwise, so mine has been tuned for nearly 30Kmiles now. Would NEVER go back to the stock ZED0. Never....

I wouldnt say it goes completely away but it does quiet it down alot more. I am glad it didnt completely go away because I am as guilty as the rest of you, I dig the the popping as well.
