what do you think of my intake?

I put a cone filter on the end of the stock setup, and left the bottom half of the air box to use the two snorkels.

It's a good idea. But you only need the one snorkel which is letting air in through the gril.
It's good not because of more air flow. By doing this you let your engine breath colder air from outside the engine bay. It would be also a good idea to make some kind of heatshield that would prevent hot air coming directly from the engine and header in the left side of your air filter. Good luck

sorry mister your wrong

by leaving the big snorkel in place you are getting cold air from the outside while at speed. this is a good thing

bad thing about SRI's...heat soak is a mutha in the summer. you WILL feel a decrease in HP from light to light.

When I bought my SVTF the previous owner had installed a K&N cone filter. He took out everything except the stock snorkel that feeds the air from the front. While it "may" help a little, I could not see any difference leaving the snorkel there b/c it would not be enclosed, therefore would create no suction.

think about it, it is still providing the SRI with cold air from the outside of the enginebay. you cannot deny this. it may not be getting any kind of pressure, but big deal. the oem doesnt pressurize much either. cold air is cold air.

if i were to have an SRI, i would remove the cowl weather stripping and keep the snorkel, but remove the side snorkel.

and honestly, you cant beat the look of a SRI. they look great and IMO are more pleasant to look at over a CAI.

to each his own.

but again, heat soak is inevitable while the car is at speeds below 10 and especially at a stop.

The OEM box doesn't pressurize the front scoop; it causes vacuum which forces air to be sucked into the front scoop from a cool location. Without the airbox, there is no vacuum. You MAY get slightly cooler air at speed, but I highly doubt it's offsetting the amount of hot air under the hood.

In my opinion, you should put the stock airbox back in.

Do this...leave the front snorkel in place with the S/R. Check it in about a month, you will notice the area on the cone filter right above the snorkel is much much dirtier. It helps but is no replacement for a real CAI.
