Low but even compression

So I was finally able to get the car running and check the compression on the new svt I picked up. (I bought it not running half expecting to have to replace the engine)

90.90.95.87

Very even but also pretty low. Could the timing be off far enough to not allow it to build enough compression? I'm taking it in hopefully tonight to get the codes pulled and go from there. any thoughts?

iirc the VCT screws with compression tests, but that is still pretty low, most tests ive seen on good svt motors do about 130

Did you hold the TB open when you did the test?

Or perhaps the cams are overlapping too soon... like the timing belt is off a tooth on one of the cams.

did you crank it long enough? if you did not do the 4 revolutions you wont get very high results.

At least 4 times. Gauge would increase each time until it would stabalize, then I would allow it to go a couple more times, but it wouldn't go any higher.

I'm going now to have the codes pulled, I'll report back.

Here are the codes they pulled:

P0133/P0135 - Oxygen sensor

P0141 - Oxygen sensor

P1233 - Fuel pump offline <- the car was not running while the test was administered, could that be why this one popped up?

I guess the low compression cannot be an effect of the timing since that should throw a code, correct?

I also got to drive it and my impressions are that the engine probably pulls as hard as it should, although I'm a little disappointed in the top end and am not convinced that the intake is switching, although this should throw a code right? Should the intake still switch with no load (like standing in front of the car revving it?)

Thanks guys

Yeah the DSI switches at 5k or 6k, depending on the tune that's on the car, so it'll switch if you just open the TB under the hood.

You could try measuring the depth of the pistons at TDC through the spark plug hole next, if you're concerned about bent rods.
