actual gains

hi guys so im wanting to do some mods to my gfs 04 zx5 svt focus. was wondering if the intakes, throttle body, and exhaust ( cat backs), actually make any more power or are we only talking on or two hp. i did some searching and some people seem to say some things work while others say some things dont. the only thing i found to be a straight answer was the tune from tom.

also, about the exhaust i measured and it seems to be around 2and a quarter inches and has minimal kinks and bad bends in it almost like it looks pretty efficent. is there even any hp in it.

thanks

nick

i know that an intake is honestly like 2-5 hp, cat back maybe 2hp, throttle body maybe 8 i think..., spark plugs and plug wires really dont do much at all. really big way to make power is boost it. little bolt ons dont help much, its mainly for show and sound. the tom tune i dont have but i know someone who does and he loves it

prolly 3-5 hp on the throttle body, intake 8-10 hp, exhaust 5-10 hp.

definitely not 8-10 on intake unless it is a serious ram air but you wont see more than 1-2 with a CAI or SRI. exhaust maybe 1 hp, our exhaust is already engineered by cosworth racing, so dont expect more than a better sound from exhaust. like said before your best bang for the buck would be Forced Induction

i have pulleys, intake, TOMS TUNE, 67m TB, clutch, flywheel, plugs, wires, and...umm...i think thats all i have for performance stuff...

so for IMO the most noticable gain from driving the car is the intake....other things may give you more gain, but you realize the gains from an intake more.

INTAKE FTW!

oh and in addition to my intake suggestion, i have owned a standard zetec enging, and the svt and the difference between stock setup and a nice filter setup is like night and day...for the price i would say theirs not a whole lot more you can get to "NOTICE" the difference other than small, (less important) things like a shifter...those mods should follow the main mods...

once again

INTAKE FTW!

you'll see gains like this most likely:

TB 2-4 hp
Exhaust 1-2
intake 3-5
toms tune 7-10
udp (massive's) 4-7

they are all relative, and may have a different impact on every car. and of course, all would complement each other nicely and feel better overall

Throttlebody - MAYBE 1hp... the difference is entirely in the driveability of the car. There is no gain due to the restriction in the intake manifold right after the TB.

Exh - minimal.. basically for sound... unless you get an orp and go 3in. then maybe 5...

Intakes: you run the risk of hydrolock with the AEM CAI, short rams suffer from heat soak during the summer... 2-3 The stock box pulls in the coldest air but at the lowest cfm.

Tom's tune.. unless your g/f's car had a bad tune from the factory you won't get a 10hp gain. You will find a nice bump in midrange tq that allows for a significant change in drivability of the car as well as minimal bogging if any on take offs as well as getting rid of the surging at highway speeds.

ALSO.. remeber when you add multiple aftermarket parts you can't add upp the claimed gains and expect to get that output...

You'lll feel the biffest differences with a tune, tb and orp.
