Red face I'm getting more compliments on the SVTF than the Speed 3

I have alot of friends that aren't into cars so much and all but when pictures of the two cars are shown the SVTF is the one that always gets the praise, lol! Man, I had thought it might be the other way around. Both are fantastic and amazing machines in their own ways, I'm not sure yet of which one I like the look of more. I even have a few peeps that think the SVTF is my new car

So you guys being SVTF owners, what say you: Is the MS3 harder on the eyes or what? Other than the hood bulge and rolled fenders I'd think that at a glance they are very, very similiar.

I'd give anything to be able to have the SVTF back in the garage but life gets in the way of these things sometimes.

As much as I like the superior mechanicals of the Speed, the SVTF has got it in looks hands down.
IMHO, the lines don't "flow" as well from front to rear, and the rear spoiler looks like an afterthought.

Just noticed something else that catches my eye.
The dark argeant wheels also look a whole lot better on a black car than the bright silver.

Yeah I think as much as I don't want to admit it I dig the flow of the SVT soooo much more. Sadly they aren't offering the pre 2005 Focus any longer because I would have bought yet another.

And the Speed may be a pig but it's a very fast pig, ha-ha! SVTF has it beat in braking (or at least it felt more confident) and was more stable feeling at higher speeds.

So when you commented the MS3 is a pig, was that in the looks department or literally its weight? Just curious

mostly looks...it just looks like a fat woman bent over

the SVT on the other hand...is sleek, sexy, clean cut, clean lines...like a very sexy model...lines are perfect in everyway. mmmm

I personal think the SVTF has the M3 beat in the looks department also. It has more Bold lines and flows a little better. Also it helps your SVTF was a very hot and clean car!!

Yep, I Will Have To Agree. The Svtf Looks Great, And The Speed--idk--the Front Half Does Not Match The Back Half. Just My 2 Cents.

I'll be honest, since I first laid eyes on the SVT focus I wanted one more than any other car in the world. I think the SVTF looks better than the speed 3 in almost all ways. It is simple, there is just no better looking hatchback car in history than the SVT Focus, and there probably never will be. Even the new euro focus ST doesn't look as good as the ST170 and RS did. If only the SVT had the speed 3's motor in it, then it would be ALL over.

IMHO, the MKI Focus is the best-looking car in this class EVER sold in the U.S. (and the SVT is of course the cream of the crop in looks). For me, it was love at first sight, and the only time I had buyer's remorse with a Focus was when the SVT was announced four to six months after I'd bought my brand-new ZX3 back in the fall of 2000...

I'd like to know the name of the designer (designers?) of the MKI Focus. He/she/they is/are my hero/heros. In hatch form, it's just a perfect design for what it is. (I even had an industrial designer buddy who'd first seen the Focus in Europe and pronounced it "gorgeous.")

As for the Mazda, I actually think the standard 3S looks better than the Speed3 (don't like the wheels, don't like the snub nose), and the sedan's even better looking than the hatch. But, even though I kicked and screamed when the 3 hatch came out (I preferred the Protegé5), it's really grown on me over the years (much like the '08 Focus sedan is growing on me now).

Then again, the Mazda certainly slam dunks the Focus in the interior department (if only in materials quality, not necessarily design).

Glad you have some friends with taste, BTW - too many other threads here where FFers talk about being mocked for their Foci.

So, yeah, no shame in your new car, that's for sure (and you'll certainly impress the ignorant more, for what that's worth), but it ain't a looker like the SVTF.

(Now, of course, if you started this same thread on a MAZDA board, you'd probably get flamed out of town...)
