Fried PCM!? On my SVT

Well, I took my car in for a CEL and a code of P0135 which indicated a short in wiring. Anyway, just got the call from the dealer saying that the PCM was fried, and that it needs to be replaced... it's going to cost $721 plus tax... I don't want to deal with it any longer, so I am getting it fixed... and it should be ready tomorrow.

I'm not too upset being that this is the first time the SVT has ever thrown a code, and had anything wrong with it in the year that I've owned it.

It would idle rough, and had drivability issues... but it was very sporatic. Usually when I would start it, it would idle bad, and smoke a bit (running rich - which was apparant in my mileage) but this morning it was running fine all the way to the dealer.

Tom... will this affect my tune?

my car is at the dealership for what sounds to be almost the exact same thing...........i am crossing my fingers and hoping that i don't have to get a new ecu myself....and if i do, i hope its covered under my extended warranty.

and tom, what do you mean by 'restoring the origional backup', just incase i have to do the same....

If your car is tuned, and the PCM/ECU needs to be replaced then your tune dissapears as well, and if you don't re-flash your car back to stock, then your Preadator unit will be locked out, and I don't think Tom or Diablo unlock the units anymore. At least that is how I understand it from Tom.

Thanks again Tom for answering my questions.

Exactly... I went home after work, took my wife's car to the dealer and flashed it back. One of the salesmen saw me, and thought I was trying to steal the car! :lmao:
