REMOVING preCat o2 sensor ???

OMFG I am trying to take off the freakin cat heat shield that is on the top of the cat which has been rattling something crazy lately. Well I can get the bolts off of the shield but I need to slide it out forward but the stupid front o2 sensor is in the way. I have one of those special bolts that has a slit on the side for slippign it over the sensor but the stupid sensor is soooo close to the tranny that you cannot get a wrench or anything near it to take it off WTF FORD??? Anybody taken theres off?? What the hell did you use? This is just infuriating!!

Thanx for lookin!!

Heat the o2 with a torch. Then try to pry it. If you want to risk it you could try the bolt loosener spray, but it might harm the o2.

lol, totally not fords fault its that close. happens when you smack the header on something and bend it some. toss the pos socket in the bottom of your box and just use an open end wrench on it. or just unbolt the cat from the header, push it back a bit and itll drop down far enough for the shield to come off.

ok...update. I was finally able to fenangle the o2 sensor out. I used the same special bolt with the slit on the side and I was able to get an open ended 7/8 wrench on the top of the o2 remover. It was a pain and the clearance was very tight but I managed to break the torque lose and slowly but surely loosen it up enough to unscrew in by hand. Got the stupid cat shield off with only a minor fuss as I had to bend it a little to get it past the header. reinstalling the o2 sensor took longer than taking it off because I was having trouble getting it to thread in properly. Finally got it though. I am sorta thinking of doing how-to with pictures on how to get the damn thing out. I know it sounds like it should be an easy task but I had to experiment with a variety of things to get it off. what do you guys think of a how-to on removing the o2 sensor?
